Free Entertainment is all around us. We just have to reach out for it.
1. Free movie rentals from Redbox. Search for “Redbox codes” online. You’ll get at least one free movie rental a week when using the Redbox video machines.
2. Free Lego Build Event. Each month Lego stores sponsor free building events for ages 6 through 14. Kids can build a new Lego model each month (this month it is a log cabin) and then take it home.
3. Free video games from the library. Chances are that your library is stocked with video games for current systems. Some libraries will even let you borrow the device on which to play the games.
4. Summer music concerts. Many communities and civic groups sponsor summer music concerts that are absolutely free. They usually take place in a park, field or public hall.
5. Free cooking classes. William-Sonoma offers free cooking classes on weekends. These classes include instruction in things from knife skills to sautéing.
6. Free chess club. Libraries and schools often sponsor free chess clubs. Some focus on kids, while others are for all ages.
7. Lowe’s Build-to-Grow. Every few weeks, Lowe’s stores offer free building events. Kids can build real objects using wood and nails.
8. Pottery Barn store events. Some events, such as a doll tea party require a fee, while others, such as a Valentine letter writing station are completely free.
9. Toys R Us store events. Toys R Us often promotes new toys and games with in-store events. These events often include small toys or samples to take home.
10. Free breakfast or BBQ. Many churches reach out to the community with free events. Two of the more popular church outreach events are the breakfast and the BBQ. Check in your local community to see what is available.
11. Free trick or treating. Churches, malls, shopping centers and civic organizations offer free trick or treating events for Halloween.
12. Free crafts. Michael’s craft store offers free crafting events that include activities such as cake decorating or card stamping. Events are offered for both children and adults.
13. Free movies. Movie theaters often show second run movies for free during the summer months.
14. Free game apps. There are many free game apps available for smart phones and tablets. Navigate to your device’s online store and search the free offerings.
15. Free poetry readings. Visit any city, and you will be sure to find plenty of free poetry events.
16. Free home improvement classes. Home Depot offers various classes to teach you the basic skills of home improvement, while entertaining you, too.
17. Free network television shows. You’ll often find full episodes of your favorite television shows for free online.
18. Free factory tours. From chocolate to beer, if you have a factory nearby then chances are you have some free entertainment, too. Many businesses offer free factory tours to the public.
19. Free story time for children. Check out your local library’s event calendar for free story time events.
20. Free museum admission. Check your museum’s website for days and times when they offer free admission. Most of them do. You just have to do your research.
