One Point for the Other Team - Blog Entry

Don't know why I thought the questions were rhetorical:-) Anyway, I don't believe these judgments will have a ripple effect because of the way homeschoolers are not taking this laying down. This is a very visible case and it is clear that this judgment will not stand.

You should always be worried about your rights... but no more in this case than usual. Anytime the nation as a whole looks away from an injustice just because it does not directly affect them, we are allowing more injustices to take place. As homeschoolers it would not hurt to teach our children to be politically active.

Danny and Justin's New Gigs - Blog Entry

I think Danny got voted off more because of fans reaction to his 'Christmas Message' youtube video than for his singing... I also found his dancing and making googly eyes at the camera distracting. But for an 18 year old, singing for Rosie is not a bad gig.

Why What Happens in California Matters - Blog Entry

The family was accused by their children of abuse. Their reasons for homeschooling, as mentioned in the court documents were first because they disagreed with what schools were teaching, later because of deep religious convictions, and it is also recorded in the court document that Dad said he didn't want them in school because there were snitches. I don't think HSLDA would have touched this with a 10 foot pole if the judgment did not affect the entire state.

Personally I am pretty peeved on this one. It's like the judge decided that no kids could have candy because one kid has an allergy.

Make Your Own Frugal Hot Oil Treatment - Blog Entry

I have recently discovered coconut oil. I as using a very expensive product called OJON that works wonderfully and costs a fortune. After some research I found that coconut oil absorbs into the hair, softens it and protects it.

I was born with big fluffy hair and so was my kid. For the first time in her life, I was able to comb it without a fight after using coconut oil for 2 weeks.

Is Grammar Overrated? - Blog Entry

04 Mar 2008 10:57 AM

I didn't teach my children grammar separately until they reached middle school and started taking classes. Now they take grammar as a separate entity to itself which also includes Latin roots, vocabulary, and sentence structure.

Literature is learned along with their history curriculum.
