Absolutely... my kids did not start homeschooling until they could read... if you don't count the summer after Kindergarten when I realized my kid could not read and taught her.

My neighor quizzed Jordan the other day, I sent her to return a "loaned" (pushed upon) science book we never used.... she quizzed my daughter on it and she got all the answers right. I repeat, we never used the book she forced on us. It just sat in my husbands office for two months..

Of course she is probably looking for more books to "loan" us and taking credit for Jordan knowing the info.

If my kids stay in the homeschool program they are in, they will be bilingual as it requires 4 years of the same language. It just does not start until high school.

excellent post... If my mom had not given me her last name, my childhood would have been even more confused being that she married a widower who was already raising kids with two different last names... at least I felt like I had a familial connection.

At 18 months, my kids could wriggle into a computer chair and type in DOS prompts to play Reader Rabbit. So, basically, they were born with silver keyboards in their hands.

This is probably why they can self regulate... it is just not a big deal.

I actually disagree with most of the comments here. I am all for making education as much fun as possible and purchase learning games whenever possible. My two very bright kids have few restrictions when it to using technology, but interestingly enough, they leave the more mindless stuff for weekends and homeschool breaks.
