Teachers Use Harry Potter to Teach Science - Blog Entry

12 Jul 2007 10:07 AM

Harry Potter... Science? Maybe modern lit, but not science... I would have a problem with that if my kids were required to take such a course.... and yes, it is partly for religious reasons. I went ahead and bought the books thinking we could read and talk about them. My kids got halfway through the second one and both said they found them too dark and disturbing. I have to go through my kids instinct on this one.

I agree with Karabu... No teacher should ever worry about me thinking I can do a better job at them at what they do. When my kids have more than 2 friends in my home with them, I begin to feel anxious. So a classroom full of kids would send me into an absolute tizzy!

But as for what I can do individually with the kids I gave birth to... Now that's a different story.

If We Want Our Children to Have Character Traits, We Need to Have Them First - Blog Entry

29 Jun 2007 07:02 AM

While a minority of people can teach some traits to their children as they learn them, you cannot expect a child to carry out those traits if you do not model them, and you better believe that if you have dishonorable traits, no matter how much you tell your kids otherwise, they will also be dishonorable.... in short, I agree with Kori!
