Yeah... I grew up not too far from you and distinctly remember drawing my mom a stick figure diagram in grade two. She was most appalled because it was correct. I learned it from other kids, and encylopedias. Our kids don't need sex ed, they need moral counseling.

For both our church, and the church school we use for homeschooling, 6th grade is the when they will start talking to kids about social problems of all kind to instill the Church view instead of the world view... Still, when the word abortion rolled of my sons tongue I nearly crashed the car.

Back in my day, these issues were discussed beginning in 8th grade.

wow... your Dad sounds like my mom. When I was 15 she beat up a gang member for harrassing me. After that, the gang members wouldn't let anyone else mess with me either. (I don't recommend parents be so bold these days... gang members carry weapons now)

I do it more as a year in review than a test prep. I don't test (formally) every year, but I review every spring to see what they retained! I will probably blog about it in the Spring when we get into it. It takes us about 2-3 weeks to review.
