I have been having "winter blah" symptoms since I lived in Rochester NY where there were few days of full sun. I finally purchased one after I started homeschooling, so I could function better for my kids. They actually turn it on when I am especially crabby. I have a cheap one as my symptoms aren'tthat bed, but If I am not on top of it, I can get depressed.

I am not wealthy, but I don't have to work. I however, LOVE TO WORK. I just love homeshcooling more, so I am a WAH-HM (Work at home - homeschooling mom). For me this is the best of both worlds as well as security in the fact that I won't go insane when the kids grow up and leave me.

I grew up in the North East and now live in the South. Most people (here) younger than me call me Ma'am or Miss or Mrs. I, in turn have always given young people the courtesy of a title. I was raised that way, and it generally makes them feel good about themselves to be given the respect from the jump.

But these are interesting and modern times. I have noticed that relatives' children call me by my first name... It bothers me. My children would never do that.

Yes, Julie... I am truly blessed... One of the points I was trying to make in the blog is that by freeing up my time and sanity and hiring a housekeeper, I was able to cover the expense by picking up a couple of writing jobs. I'd much rather write than clean!

This is about how much I can get done in one day as well... and write, of course.

Meanwhile, someone has to clean the bathrooms, mop floors, vacuum carpets, polish hardwood, disinfect surfaces, and remove fingerprints, dust, and organize closets even after the kids tidy up behind themselves! I have considered having them do more chores... but would prefer they spend the time doing academics.

When my kids were little, I used these bins to sort and hold toys. When I realized the kids were playing in them, I removed the lids and put them in the attic. They are perfectly safe without lids.
