We chose to forgo the proceedure. It was not something we really talked about. Like studies show dad as not, my doctors were actually against it, and so we didn't. Had we had different doctors we may have given it more thought, but since my pediatrician mother of 5 thought natural was best, as well as my OBGYN. We felt comfortable.

My mother, and other relatives freaked! "ahhhh, what's wrong with the baby's penis?", they screamed. "Nothing, he was born with it like that!" I said with a wry smile! That part was pretty humorous though!

Great idea... my kids were doing a garage sale fundraiser for a youth trip last year and one of the moms bought a couple of trays of home made sausage egg bisquits for us... the crowd decended and and forced us to sell most of them... I did get one, however, and they were delicious!

I have to admit being a bit jealous when I first heard this story. I thought, why isn't she doing this in the US? Then I read something she said.... that these girls are grateful... How rare is that here. Too bad for us, the over-privileged, the world owes me something Americans. Good for those girls in South Africa.

I agree, different is not wrong. My 12 year old has trouble accepting ideas different from his our even ours... I hope I can get this through to him before he starts becoming independant or he will be very conflicted.
