Ann Coulter Spot Pulled from the Today Show

06 Jan 2009 12:48 PM

I noticed Ann was strangely absent during the election... I thought that was odd. But then, she is a bit odd... She hides behind conservative Christianity, but nothing she does, says, or wears reflects that.

I'm Still Sort Of Really Qualified to Homeschool a Gifted Child

Great series. Your son might slow down in the middle school years... or he may not. I have learned over the years that you just have to let your kid go at their own pace. I know my two have left me panicked over the years, and I am now in a panic right now with the two of them speeding toward college, with the younger one leading the race... I am realizing that trying to slow them down could halt them indefinitely. Therefore, my plan for next year is to have the curriculum ready and let them go for it!

Are You a Reluctant Homeschooler?

31 Dec 2008 11:47 PM

Hi Sparklee. I am educated too. I have a Paralegal Degree and a BA in Fine Arts w/English minor. Teaching was never, ever part of my plan. But here I am.

On the day of the College Graduation, my boyfriend (now husband) said something that I found rather annoying at the time. He said "this piece of paper proves you can learn anything". With that in mind, when it came time to homeschool I taught myself. I went to library and checked out every book they had on education styles and homeschooling. 6 month, and 30 books later, I was read to begin. So that's my advice. Start reading. If it is meant to be, you will know based on the confidence you will get from the knowledge you have given yourself.

I'm (Sort Of) Really Qualified to Homeschool a Gifted Child

Very interesting... I am realizing that I am better qualified to teach my son than the experts that I had handed over his academic classes to for High School (once a week classes). I will be making some changes next year. While I like that his Arts and performance classes are done in groups, academic with other kids is not working... even with 4 kids in the class, there are too many distractions. It's not that he's not doing well, because he is, but he's not too happy about waiting for his classmates to focus.

Drew Carey Under Fire After Blowing Off Miracle "Price is Right" Win

21 Dec 2008 11:08 AM

I have been watching Drew Carey since 1998. He had a dry sense of humor. From watching the video, I would say he did react. Of course I have not watched him on the Price is Right and don't know how he normally reacts to a showcase.

Homeschooling is just a matter of time

Samual, there are "advanced" classes here, but they study more in depth subjects and other "interesting things" instead of moving a head. Furthermore, with the emphasis based on leaving no children behind, very few bright children are acknowledged and moved ahead. A parent had to know how to work the system to get their kid what they needs.

Homeschooling is just a matter of time

Please do give an update Valorie... it seems I only want to talk about teens and pre-teens these days... I would love to see how some little ones are doing.

Every now and then you run into people who should not be allowed to have kids... this couple are definitely candidates.

Los Angeles can be a dangerous place for a Pedestrian. Last summer I was almost struck while getting out of a car...in the next 10 minutes I saw two actual car accidents on the same street.

A Warning for Hybrid Homeschoolers

Hybridding: The act of combining homeschooling and academic classes. We should submit it to Webster's.
