I traveled frequently with my kids from 6 weeks of age until about 8 and 10 when airlines just got too expensive after 9-11. Not only did my kids know by the age of two how to keep close to us, even if it meant taking out someone's ankles with their little roller luggage, I don't don't think our eyes left their little bodies for a moment... not even long enough to sneeze. The problem is much bigger than leaving the kid unsupervised in an airport. How many times have you been in a mall and seen kids running about with parents not paying attention. One time I had a 3 year old kid run me down and repeatedly ram me with a cart.. it took me 5 minutes to make him stop and find his parents! End of Year Gift Giving14 May 2008 09:37 PM Today, I cleaned out the chest where I keep photographs and momentos. I cam across a little brown notebook shaped like a hershey's kiss. In it, there were notes from members of my child's family, including myself, telling my child why we all think she is is special. On the last page were notes from her last two teachers. I vaguely remember this year end progress that was done by teacher and parent together. I remember my child's last year at school (before we began homeschooling) as being very turbulent, but now I appreciate the efforts of the teacher to be as loving as possible under the circumstances. We are fortunate to not have any problems with our middle school age kids finding friends and fitting into any social groups. Still getting kids together can be hard because middle school homeschoolers are pretty busy people. Between drama club, fencing, and church groups, and academics my kids barely have time to get together for the sole reason of socializing.
