In Georgia, you have to homeschool an average of 4 1/2 hours a day for 180 days. (a total of If I counted everything my kids did that was educational, they would be done by Christmas. One year my daughter actually did finish a years curriculum by Christmas.

Meanwhile, I just fill out the forms to reflect the normal school year.

that is a toughie... how does one measure success or failure when you don't have the in-school experience of the same child to measure it against. A so so outcome of homeschooling could have been an all out failure in public school... there is no real way to know.

I think it comes from a place that does not want our kids to grow up free from childhood oppression and issues that cause them to lose self esteem. After all, children who survive with a strong sense of self intact can better compete against those who are depressed and defeated.

I miss living in New York! I grew up watching Telemundo! I may not be able to speak spanish, but I understand what Spanish people are saying. My next door neighbor from Dominican Republic is improving her English by watching the news.
