Water Danger: Know the Risks

20 Jan 2007 09:24 AM

This was such as sad story... my heart goes out to her kids. My children feel horrible about it too, they don't think the kids will ever be able to forgive themselves just for wanting a game system.

Girdles Are For Skinny Chicks

OOOOH Girl! MY husband calls them bullet proof vests! I need his help, and sometimes a third person just to get into one! I have them in every shape and form and all they do is take the fat from one area and place it somewhere else. While they give me a smooth silhouette, (even the neck to ankle ones), I turn out looking like a very smooth barrel. I'd rather have a lumpy waist!

Children and Aging Parents--Are You Caring for Both?

19 Jan 2007 10:46 PM

Chances are Julie, that it will be your sons wife doing the lions share of the work, while your son provides financial support for you and your family. As the wife of the oldest son in a traditional Jamaican family, I often feel pressed on both sides... they don't live with us, but are moving close by and demand our attention.

I will try to remember to not over cater to everyones needs. I don't want wear myself out and then have my kids taking care of me at too young an age.

I am assuming Jeff is in the car with his child... right Jeff? As he stated: "Naturally, you should never leave your child unattended in the car - it is not a toy after all, but rather an expensive and potentially dangerous place."

Beginning homeschooling with minimal support

I am glad your experience did not turn you off from homeschooling. My first experience delayed my decision to homeschool by several years. I kept it in my mind, but did not proceed until I felt I had no other choice.

I guess that is why it is so important people like us talk about our experiences and encourage new and prospective homeschoolers so that they feel enabled to do what is in their hearts.

18 Jan 2007 06:08 PM

Timely conversation.... did anyone see the Today Show report this morning about childrens birthday parties... in the end, I think they said that if it is in your budget... go for it. (or did I say that?)
