I think you are absolutely right to point out that while these numbers are on the rise, it does not necessarily spell doom for your own marriage. Being too focused on negatives around you can inadvertently bring them into your own life.

It is easy to become overwhelmed and even depressed when we think about all the things that could go wrong in our lives. The one saving grace can be knowing that you have a partner to face all the unknowns with so I can't image the agony of losing your life partner. How lost I would be.

Like you said though, the key is to focus on all that you are experiencing now. Together. Today.

Very interesting. I have had similar conversations with friends regarding everything from Prohibition to slavery and their answers always make me think.

I think it is wonderful your husband views a time when women not able to vote as stupid! Good answer. :)

I completely agree. There are things about my friends husbands that would drive me mad over the course of time. I guess the upside of being subjected to other guys outrageously annoying behavior is that it makes me appreciate my husband even more.
