Obama and McCain on the Economy - Blog Entry

16 Jun 2008 06:25 AM

I am not a big tax cut beleiver. It might increase refunds next Spring, but it won't help the current situation today. I would rather see a deduction in gas prices, food costs, or mortage realignments so that the average family can stop struggling so much today. I look forward to your future blogs and reading more about their different points of view.

My Husband's Favorite Dessert: Key Lime Pie - Blog Entry

16 Jun 2008 04:42 AM

We made this pie for Father's Day and it came out great! The whip cream took two tries because I over beat it the first time. I forgot how good fresh whip cream really is.

I find it amazing that she has been so successful and stayed so positive. While her competition has such a negative outlook on life, she has been uplifting and successful. I love it!!! I look forward to her new shows.

History Was Made. . .But Not Set in Stone - Blog Entry

Is it just me or does it seem like more policticians think they should fight the system when things don't go their way? Here's my question, Is Clinton doing more damage by not conceding now, so that Obama can start campaigning against McCain instead of fighting for the Democratic nomination? I will probably get slammed by Clinton supporters, but if the system is setup the way it is, why should it be changed because one did not win?

Save Money on Paper - Blog Entry

Great ideas!! How about printing on both sides of the paper? I also give my kids the printed sheets I don't need to draw or practice their writing. The Sunday funnies make great wrapping paper. I use newspaper for packing when I send a package instead of the foam peanuts.

Breastfeeding Preemies in a NICU is Different - Blog Entry

05 May 2008 06:11 PM

My last baby was in the NICU was 12 days. Although he was 7lbs 10 ounces, he couldn't breathe or eat on his own during his first few days. Our NICU talked me into using a pacifier because they used vanilla flavored and it calmed the baby during procedures. Once we left the hospital, our baby did not want it anymore.

I was also told to pump and leave the milk with the NICU. This way, he could have breastmilk as soon as he was ready for it and I did not have to be there in the middle of the night. Our baby was not ready to eat for 9 days, so I was able to rack up quite the stash. I was also told, it was easier for him to digest. Also by giving him a bottle, they were able to keep track of exactly how much he was eating. I was able to use electric pumps in the NICU, which made it a lot easier.

Sugar Gliders - Blog Entry

HI! I was the one that started that discussion. We have a male. He is very cute. He only allows my boyfriend to hold him. He does bite. We got a hampster ball for him. He seems to like it. He runs around the house in it. He is a daytime sleeper. I hear him in his cage most of the night eating and playing. He also barks for attention. Thats real fun at 2am. But it's kind of cute. I usually sit next to his cage and talk to him till he stops.

My cats seem to be afraid of him. This is kind of funny since he is as small if not smaller than a hampster. If he senses them near the cage, he lets out a very loud screech and they walk away.

He is a picky eater. He has his pellet food and I give him veggies and fruit. He loves apples and a seed mixture that as dry fruit in it. He usually leaves the other stuff sit.

We took him to Florida with us. We brought his cage and kept him in his pouch when we traveled. In hotels, I put a towel over the cage with a big sign that said do not disturb. I didn't want the maids to get too curious and decide to open the cage. It worked out well.

Does anyone else have one? Is your loving? How does he react to your kids?

The Little Things - Blog Entry

As Catherine said, your article brought tears here as well. Life is very short and we have to live each moment as it could be our last. Sometimes we need a close call to remind us of this. Your blog did just that. Thank you!!!
