It was a dream of mine to attend a four year college when I graduated high school. But since I went to a very small high school jumping straight into a big university would not have been a good idea for me. I think that if a 16 year old went to a major university there would be a big maturity difference between them and most of the other students that they may not be able to handle. Will Obama Make Education Top Priority? - Blog Entry13 Nov 2008 11:28 AM My question is, where is going to get the money to reform the education department? He says he is going to cut taxes for the middle class but he also promising to put more money towards other things. Seems to me like he may be promising more than he can give. Sex Education in the News - Blog Entry12 Nov 2008 12:20 PM I think that sex education in the classroom is very important. With so many teen pregnancies these days, something needs to be done. Why not put sex education in the classroom? Students are at school more hours in the day than anywhere else. It is probably very beneficial to expose students to this at a young age just because the age of teenage mothers gets younger and younger every year. But if it going to start out so young then it needs to be age appropriate. Should You Hold Your Child Back a Year? - Blog Entry12 Nov 2008 08:37 AM Like someone said before, every child is different. Being held back for a year can greatly help a child, developmentally. This can be either physically or mentally. Although I do not have children of my own, I did go to school with people that were held back for different reasons. The student that was held back because of physical reasons received a football scholarship at a very high ranking school for academics. Also, I have seen in other students that being held back helped them in academics and maturity, just because they were more on a level with students a year younger than them. 1 2 |
