Send Unexpected Greeting Cards!

We all love to receive cards in the mail on our birthdays and anniversaries. If we are honest, there's still a little bit of the 8-year-old in us that shakes the card a little, or peeks inside one more time, "just in case" there's cash or a check in there, right?

But how often have you been delighted to receive an UNEXPECTED greeting card in the mail? Doesn't it just shine there, amidst all of the bills and catalogs and junk mail?!

How often have you SENT an unexpected greeting card . . . ?! Let's share stories of how our lives have been touched, or someone else's has been touched, by the simple joy of finding a real card with a real stamp in our mailbox!

I'll go first (it is my blog, after all). Last week, several friends met for lunch at a Chinese restaurant nearby. After lots of laughs and only a few instances of spilled Egg Drop Soup, our fortune cookies were delivered. One by one, my friends read their fortunes - some even analyzed their lottery lucky numbers on the reverse side. Finally, it was my turn, and I 'read':

Your friends are buying your lunch today.

Ha ha ha; some people laughed, most groaned, and we all reached for our wallets. Suddenly Stacey*(names have been changed to protect the generous) said, "Put your wallets away. Anita's fortune has come true," and she paid for everyone's lunch! Wow.

Back at my desk, it took me less than 40 seconds to find and send the perfect THANK YOU card for Stacey. Here it is:
