Another Source of Free Events!

file000519366845If you want more free activities to do with the kids than you could possible fit in this summer, use this free source. pick up a free copy of your own local regional parenting magazine.

Regional parenting magazines are geared for parents and caregivers, and they are filled with lots of helpful articles that deal with all sorts of subjects, from breakthroughs in healthcare to recommendations about the best learning toys. I should know. I often write articles for regional parenting magazines, and I interview top experts in their chosen fields. There really is a lot of great information for parents, and it is all meant for local readers.

What I really wanted to mention (and I wonder why I haven’t thought about telling you this before) is that regional parenting magazines are also filled with fun and frugal things to do in the area, and all are family friendly.

These magazines are usually published once a month with a detailed calendar of events, so you can peruse everything that is happening in the area, including all of the free events.

Go through the calendar each month, and pick out the activities you want to do then add them to your own calendar, or just post the pages up on your activity board or refrigerator and circle what you like. Since all of the events are local, you will save money by not having to travel. Everything from jazz festivals and tasting tours to touch-a-truck and kids workshops are represented.

One of the best things about regional parenting magazines is that they are usually free to consumers. You can pick up a copy practically anywhere families gather, including the library, doctor’s offices, schools, grocery stores, etc. Many of these magazines also have a rich online website, so you may be able to review events without even leaving your computer.
