What about a Father's "Right to Choose"? - Blog Entry

15 Jan 2007 07:13 AM

Hi Karabu; I appreciate your comments. To me, abortion doesn't prevent cruelty to a child, it just makes sure the cruelty happens earlier, while the child is out of sight, out of mind. We couldn't very well give women a "choice" to destroy their children after they're born, but for some, doing so even one second before they leave the birth canal is acceptable.

Anyway, I guess we shouldn't get into the whole abortion debate here, but thank you for sharing your perspective. :o)

Witty as ever, and thanks for the tips for lace/sheer curtains. They can be a pain to clean and they are such dust catchers!

Struggling to Focus - Blog Entry

05 Jan 2007 08:08 AM

I can relate, Lisa! Great article. With so much going on and running through my mind at any given moment, it can be difficult to focus. I have to stop and pray and ask God to clear my mind then actively work to concentrate.

We Are Our Kids' Role Models - Blog Entry

MJ, your articles always touch me. This one couldn't be more true. I felt terrible for yelling at my kids this morning (it's been one of "those days"), but this makes me see how best to get back on track. Even though we should already know these things, it's good to be reminded. Striving to be more like God, the perfect Parent, is the best way to set a good example. Thanks for this...

Who's Really Happy? - Blog Entry

Great blog, MJ, and I agree with you too, Linda. I think of it as one would a parent-child relationship. Children really are happiest and most secure when they know there are boundaries and know what is expected of them. When they have structure and consistency, they thrive. I feel that we get the same things when we let God be the Father and do our best to walk in His will.

Babysitting vs. Daycare - Blog Entry

Mysterious7, she may be collecting a childcare stipend via some form of public assistance and that may be all that she is alloted. However, you would probably have to be a state approved caregiver in order for her to collect it to pay you. You may find that you'll have to meet certain requirements.

If you are willing to accept $10/day, go with that, but if you feel you need more, I personally would charge by the hour. Some people tend to take advantage when they pay a flat rate. 4 - 8 quickly becomes 4 - 8:30 etc.....

Jeff, we get quite a few cardinals and the occasional red-headed woodpecker. We have a computer in the living room, and sometimes we look up varieties we don't recognize. Learning really can be fun. :o)
