"Best interest of child" is a subjective and vague standard that is far too easy to misuse, and abuse of power runs rampant even in US courts under this standard. Parents need to know their rights and how to exercise them, and the Supreme Court made it clear that there is a "presumption that parents will act in the best interest of their children." (Troxel v. Granville) Unless or until that presumption has been rebutted, no court has a right to second guess your childrearing decisions.
