Great article, Kori. I think the last line is key... helping kids learn to express themselves appropriately and to *really* listen to what others have to say.

Mommijun - some teachers have definitely been put off by two of my children who tend to have strong opinions and speak out.

In my experience, some teachers will allow respectful and well-reasoned argument (but not argument for the sake of arguing). In other cases, it seems to be a personality conflict. I've noted that with some teachers, no matter how respectful the kids are, the teacher just isn't interested in allowing kids to have an opinion.

If I might offer some friendly, yet unsolicited, advice - it is probably worth your while to have someone come out and see just how badly the floor needs to be leveled. That may be the first place you want to spend your money.
