Excellent article. "Narrow" thinking does not always have to be a negative thing, although today it does have negative connotations.

My dad used to say, "Being open-minded is good, but like everything else, only in moderation. If your mind is TOO open, your brain might just fall out."

My children better never start a fight, but they absolutely have my support in defending themselves. While I don't think fighting should be taken lightly, I do think policies this extreme teach children that they must allow themselves to be abused and never lift a finger to do anything about it. That's just dangerous.

How insane is that? I live on a dirt road with a roadside mailbox that has been run over or otherwise destroyed more times than I care to count, but this is even crazier!
