Tis The Season To Be Morbid

28 Oct 2006 03:45 PM

This is a startling yet interesting article, Michele. I don't like any of this stuff and I don't see how all this fascination with death, morbid things, and evil can be healthy. I used to think people exaggerated about Halloween being evil, but between things like this and the ever more morbid products, services, costumes, movies, shows, and even commercials being shown at this time each year, I think they have a point. Yuck!

You didn't have to do that, Michelle, but thanks. I was just agreeing how much things have changed. Thanks for the stroll down Memory Lane though, those were fun times!

Is Jesus Conservative or Liberal?

I love it, MJ. I'm always hearing how Jesus is liberal. I'd have to say definitely not, under the modern understanding of the term. Like you said though, He died for all of us... thankfully.

I mentioned trunk or treating in kids' crafts too, and I think it and things like sweet street are terrific. I do think it's a shame that my kids will never know the joys of the "free for all" Halloween times we had as kids, but like you said, at least they still get to have a good time and be safe. My youngest really doesn't even know she's missing anything, although my older girls occassionally wax nostalgic about the huge bags of candy they used to bring home (still, I went with them and it wasn't like when we were little).

Thanks, Heather. As you and I always say, it's good to look at these things from all sides. I definitely don't think we have heard the last of this one...

Sometimes, a little distance and some good old fashioned soul searching can have a huge impact. The fact that the two of you are communicating so honestly, is great. I hope things work out for you. Best wishes.

Guiding a Loved One to the Cross

Excellent, MJ. Judging and condemning people usually isn't the best idea if you want to show them the way to Christ. Never give up on those you love, even if it takes years. God can and does work miracles. Sometimes, there are only baby steps at a time, but that doesn't mean God isn't working in their lives.
