Very true, MJ. Excellent article.

Video Game Bill Passed In The Senate

Ceresrose, I agree with your basic points. But, in Teresa's defense, I don't think she's passing the buck. I also think that an effective rating system will help parents do just as you are stating.

What NOT To Sell On eBay

This is not only sick and twisted, but a little scary. A body found at a school? Who wouldn't call the police? I hope they find out who this person was and lay him or her to rest in a respectable manner, and alert family members -if any- that may still be seeking closure.

Remembering the USS Cole

This is a lovely tribute, Jaime. Let us always remember our heroes and their families and never forget the reason they fight.

Dealing with Difficult Neighbors

They really can ruin a neighborhood, Marjorie, and it's just sad. While I completely get what you're saying, I think it's sad that in this world today it's come to that. I guess this is another good reason to live out in the country. Neighbors aren't real close as a physical measure but fairly close relationship wise.

What a shame, sendpt. I would suggest re-reading the email. Try to look past her rant and see if you can find a hint as to what she's really angry about.

Personally, I wouldn't attend a party if people were rude to me. I might however ask one of those hosting the party what the problem is, when I called to RSVP.

I would continue to wave and be polite in the mean time.

I hope things work out for you.

Redefining Words: You Won't Believe this One

Very true, however, there is a difference between civil rights as defined by inherent qualities and simply deciding "anything goes." Some things are not socially acceptable for good reasons. Again, people are free to choose how they live, but that doesn't mean the rest of society has to agree with it or pretend that it's something other than what it is.

Redefining Words: You Won't Believe this One

It is definitely about validation. It's an attempt to redefine the norm in order to garner acceptance, even though the majority will never readily accept such, no matter what terms are used to describe it.

Whose Home is This?

I agree completely that a simple fence is not the answer, and that the solution begins with the Mexican government. The fence is too little, too late, and it's just to stir up voters.

It's not that Mexican people are not wanted here, we just want them to come in legally. Do you really think it's fair to people who do come here legally that they have to go through all the processes while others do not? Mexicans are not the only people coming here, but they are the only ones getting a free pass, while others have to work to become citizens.

An open border also puts us at risk to enemy attack. I believe the only reason we haven't secured our borders is because we don't want to treat illegal immigrants like an enemy and use military force against them. We want to preserve our relationship with Mexico, and we don't want people to die for wanting to come here. Yet, we should put our homeland and all our citizens at risk every day by having open borders?

I never said illegals are worthless or that they don't deserve "any" rights. My point is that some of them come here and demand the same rights as citizens and basically spit in our faces (some do, not all). I would think you would be just as bothered by that. I hope someday you can become a citizen, and I also hope you'll try to see this from the other side.

Marriage Debates: Unrealistic Demand

Thanks Eleanore, I think these topics need discussion and debate, and that both sides need to be heard.
