Soda In Schools? No More! - Blog Entry

03 Sep 2009 05:50 PM

Although some see this as a positive step, I see this as a negative. The focus should be on EDUCATION of these children (what we send them to school for) and if they can't learn about healthy CHOICES then they will never be able to function in a normal society. When they are free from the grips of totalitarian control, they inevitably will drink sodas and they may drink and eat bad foods to excess. We should teach them that there are healthier options and make them available to the students. Also, studies show that taking away sodas in schools does nothing to the soda intake of children: http://www.upi.com/Health_News/2008/11/11/No-soda-in-schools-may-not-affect-intake/UPI-64161226428415/ and http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=4391753
