I never associated the two as being relative, but I can see now there are some definite parallels there. Good article, got me to thinking. Artcraft Interplanetary Parenting - Blog Entry13 Jan 2007 01:01 PM Ours wear uniform shirts to school, polos. They hate them too but it sure makes life easier. I am in agreement with you rsbg, I cannot abide that radical dress. It is too much and kids actually do apply for work like that! When I was working, I would set up job interviews for bussers and servers, etc. and kids would come in with multiple peircings and enough jewelry to be lethal if they fell into the deep end of a swimming pool UGH. One more complaint...those jeans that I have to pay $60 for because they are processed to look dirty, that drives me up a wall and the boys love them. The dirtier they look, the more expensive they are!! Go figure. Artcraft Funny Boy Stories - Blog Entry13 Jan 2007 07:34 AM Ed, I got a chuckle with my coffee this a.m., thanks. When Steely (my bio son) was little he had his own play on words as all little ones do. When it was lightly raining, it was sparkling, if he saw someone on crutches, he referred to them as crunchers. I had to laugh about the ear phones, I could just picture him intently taking them apart. Thanks for the laugh, Artcraft - Blog Entry12 Jan 2007 08:14 PM Sorry if it offended you, that was not my intention, but to stress that we can aggressively work in a positive way to help our kids grow mentally healthy. It was all in fun, thanks for your input. Artcraft Stop Doing For Your Kids What They Can Do For Themselves - Blog Entry12 Jan 2007 01:12 PM Myra, that is such a good point. I am a firm believer in preparing the kids to fend for themselves, not train them to have a maid and nanny at their beck and call. I do not pick up after my kids. I do not clean up after my kids. They do it. Last night my oldest missed the diry clothes hamper and his sock lay next to it. I called him from his room and pointed it out, it took longer than it would've to pick it up, but he wouldn't have learned anything had I done it for him. I am obviously a stickler about this, lol. Artcraft Our Public School Failed - Blog Entry12 Jan 2007 01:04 PM Ed, when I emailed Randy's chemistry teacher requesting an appt. and asking what we could do at home to help Randy, I got back a short email stating she would keep me informed of his progress. I have parentconnect and can do that every a.m. when I wake up. I made it clear we wanted to be involved in helping him bring this grade up. I have run across this before with other teachers. When I go to ARD meetings, I can tell the teachers that care and the ones that don't. Public school for us has been a mixed blessing. When Dillon was with us, I called 2 wks after school started to set up a 504, the counselor informed me they had already had one, without me!!!! and didn't even notify me. I am a strongwilled advocate of my children and don't let things slide. I love teachers and know they have the job few of us could do (except me maybe lol) but nobody is leaving my kids behind, I want everything for them they need. I can understand your frustration. Art Postscript--Hoarding Humor - Blog Entry12 Jan 2007 12:56 PM That's what we are here for Ed, to learn from each other. I'm glad I could be of help, I learn something from you every time I read one of your interesting blogs. Art Low Carb Cheesecake: Peanut Butter Silk - Blog Entry12 Jan 2007 06:38 AM Catherine, I have got to try this recipe. After baking and consuming a multitude of cheesecake, pies, Christmas candy and cookies, etc. we are now in our Jan. mode of low carb dieting. Artcraft Where's God When I'm S-s-s-cared? (1993) - Blog Entry12 Jan 2007 05:47 AM This sounds like a fantastic video for little ones. I think I'll purchase for my grandsons. Artcraft Equipping Children for Spiritual Battle - Blog Entry12 Jan 2007 05:26 AM Satan is no respecter of age. He doesn't care how old or young a soul is, he wants it. We reinforce God's presence with the boys whenever we can. We also point out when satan has had his hand in it. While watching the news the other night, there were the usual horror stories on and Randy commented, the devil's been busy today. So he is learning to give credit where credit is due. Not only do we want them to be in awe of God's wondrous works, we want them to recognize when satan has caused chaos and pain. Know the enemy.
