After we felt Daniel was settling in and feeling more secure, then we would intigrate it gently into a conversation, asking him would he like whatever was hidden for a snack or do you want me to save this for later? It was a slow process and come to think of it, a good topic for a future blog. LInda A Small Group Makes a Big Impact - Blog Entry01 Jan 2007 09:29 PM What a heartwarming testimonial to a congregation that cared! Why is this not happening everywhere? There are children out there that need homes desperately, and so many homes that need them and don't even realize it. We need to slow down and take note of what should be priority in our lives, I think the next generation should be at the top of the list. Art Should You Let Your Special Needs Child...gulp...Date? - Blog Entry01 Jan 2007 06:22 PM Our 14 year old REALLY likes girls. They are calling the house all the time; he is tall blonde and quite handsome. He is still too young to date, but he is very aware of the female species! I worry about his dating. Randy has an impulse disorder. We work diligently to teach him to THINK before making a decision. I hope we have him on the level he needs to be when the time comes for him to display self control. Artcraft Against All Odds - Blog Entry01 Jan 2007 06:15 PM I just put my 2 year old grandson down and read this story. It wrenched my heart to read what a sad start Caleb had. You are so right Ed. We are a savage group when it comes to the care and consideration of our nation's helpless children. So many of us just shake our heads, make comments then go on about our daily routine. Feeling sorry for these children is not enough! Wishing somebody would help them is not enough! Admonishing their biological parents for the abuse is not enough! It is time for us to stand up, offer our hearts and say I Care, AND DO SOMETHING! Art Fresh Starts for 2007 - Blog Entry01 Jan 2007 07:02 AM Thanks for starting my first day of the new year in the right direction. You are such a motivator, MJ. Artcraft A Toast to Parents of Special Needs Kids - Blog Entry31 Dec 2006 09:25 PM And a toast to you, as I raise my bottled water for the gesture. And here's to a prosperous New Year for us and our wonderful kids. Artcraft When Towels Take Over - Blog Entry31 Dec 2006 07:42 PM Kristyn, there are many brands of towels available for purchase. There's Cannon, Fieldcrest, and dozens more. It seems the brand that always winds up in my towel closet is Go Forth And Multiply. Art Walking Through a Minefield - Blog Entry31 Dec 2006 07:37 PM When the boys were in a shelter, we would take them out on Sundays, of course we visited through the week, but Sunday was the day we could all be together away from the shelter. We usually would take the boys out to lunch or dinner. The first time we dined out and reached for their hands to say grace, Daniel jerked away as if he had been burned and told us, indignantly, we don't do that! I gently reached for his hand and told him, but we do. Now when we sit down to share our meal, they openly, comfortably and happily thank God for their blessings, it is second nature to talk to God in our house.
