Crack Moms, A National Problem - Blog Entry

07 Dec 2006 08:37 PM

I am in full agreement with you. We have permanent custody of 2 bio brothers, abandoned by their crack addicted mother, who never looked back. We had temp custody for 14 months of another little boy who has lived for yrs w/ a crack addicted mother. I don't understand why the laws aren't more severe for addicted mothers giving birth to addicted children, many who don't survive. Our boys have physical issues because of their mother's addiction, among them, learning disabilities, ADHD, passive/aggressive behaviors, to name just a few. It is so sad and something drastic should be done, bacause, unfortunately, its all too common in our society. Artcraft

Should You Discipline Other People's Children? - Blog Entry

06 Nov 2006 02:25 PM

I follow rule #1 when other children are at my home. If we don't do it, they can't do it. All house rules apply to anyone in my house, including adults. It is, after all, my home and my rules. I approach it as you stated, we don't or we do..... I have never had a problem with kids following my rules while here. They are usually polite and behave properly. The boys know better than to bring an unruly kid to the house. We did have a little boy over for dinner one night, and when we started to say grace before eating, he became nervous and said he didn't do that at home. I didn't have to say a word, Randy immediately told him, kindly, we do that here, no big deal. We also had 2 brothers visiting one time (ages 13 and 9), they began to argue in the kitchen and one took a punch at the other. Uncle P was home and immediately stopped it, informing them quietly and fomidably, we do nothit each other....ever. They both apologized and never did it again. Art

Sherry, thank you for reminding us all what we need to remember every waking moment. Live as Christlike as we possibly can. I strive to remember daily. It becomes a little difficult on days when I want to lose my temper, I am impatient or I don't feel well. These are the times we especially need to draw on His strength and emulate Him as much as we are able to, it sets a good example to those who are curious about christianity and are seeking a better way but aren't sure yet. A Mom And Her Tools-Not So Strange After All - Blog Entry

I love my power tools! Before we moved into this house, I worked 8 months on patching sheetrock, installed all the trimwork and baseboards, painted, wallpapered, hung doors, laid, floor tile, refinished the kitchen cabinets (my dad built them over 40 yrs ago) and laid ceramic tile on the countertops and backsplash, and so much more!
