You are so right, Cathy. It makes a wonderful sandwhich the next day. Artcraft Marrying Your Best Friend - Blog Entry10 Oct 2006 05:42 AM MJ, it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling to hear of a successful marriage. So many look at commitment as a relationship with disposable options. Marriage is not all about romance and dancing into the sunset. Its about a lot of hard work and learning to LIVE together in a peaceful, respectful and conducive manner. Its about learning to cohabitate in agreement, raising children together (if you choose to have kids), and developing a strong friendship for life. Are Two Cats Better Than One? - Blog Entry10 Oct 2006 05:31 AM My question is, are 6 cats better than 2? We are a multiple cat family and I thoroughly enjoy watching them interact and role play with each other. The age difference is from 18 yrs to 5 months. It is so interesting to observe their behavior with each other. The youngest has been adopted by our 8 yr old female, she grooms him and although she has never had a litter and has been spayed for many yrs, he pretend nurses. It seems to satisfy a need in each and they are very close. Each has his own unique personality and they all give our family hours of entertainment with their antics. We love our cats and they bring so much to the family. Vows and Divorce - Blog Entry10 Oct 2006 05:21 AM Great topic to ponder,MJ. So many couples do look at marriage more as an event than a lifelong commitment. Art So Tell Me-Why'd You REALLY Eat That Doughnut? - Blog Entry10 Oct 2006 05:17 AM I love comfort foods and snacks and can't resist an ice cream bar late in the evening. One of my strongest triggers is sitting at the computer and snacking. Its sort of like eating popcorn at the movies, they seem to go hand in hand. Because of these lately developed habits and my age, I have gained a lot of weight. You are so right, breaking the emotional eating habit isn't easy, but I am about to try. Snack substitutions are a good idea. I keep a lot of fruit in the house because the boys have it for snack, so that would be a good start. Not Your Basic Bookends - Blog Entry20 Sep 2006 11:46 AM What great ideas. I am perusing the house now to see what would look good sitting on both sides of a stack of books. Artcraft Student Dress Codes - Blog Entry13 Sep 2006 06:26 PM We have a dress code at the schools my 3 boys attend. The students wear solid colored polo shirts and a choice of jeans or khaki or black slacks, most wear jeans. The code goes farther with a ban on tattoos, heavy, excessive, or conspicous jewelry, gang related clothing, flip flops or sandals, and jackets with any type of logo. The boys are required to wear belts and pants cannot hang well past the crotch. I am in the schools quite often; I see kids who push the limits on the dress code and there are teachers who are lenient and those who are not. Although the dress code is not strictly enforced, it is in effect enough to get the point across to the kids that conformity is a rule rather than an exception in our school district. I am all for freedom of expression...works in the mall, at home, at the skating rink, etc. School is a good place to learn that sometimes in our lives, we have to conform to society and work as a team. Rules have to be followed in order to accomplish, as a whole, what we need to do. You don't see a football team in anything but the same uniform. Any team for that matter, and our kids do need to know what it means to be a part of a whole body as well as an individual. Artcraft My Big Boy Kindergartener - Blog Entry07 Sep 2006 09:18 AM MJ, I am a little teary, it really does bring back a great memory. I remember how I felt that first day, and you just brought it all back loud and clear after 22 yrs. Artcraft Communicating With God - Blog Entry12 Aug 2006 04:47 AM Hi M.J., sometimes when I talk with God about a problem, I come to Him with a plan. I have already figured out the logical answer, I just want to run it by Him, encourage Him to see it my way, put His stamp of approval on it, and do it my way. I can be so foolish at times, even at my age! Whatever the outcome, whatever the solution, I know it will be right if I will just let God do it in His own way and in His time line. As our children grow and learn from us, they become more independent and eventually reach that stage of "knowing more than we do". As God's child, I find myself emulating that "child behavior" myself. I actually have to remind myself of what I already know...give it to God and leave it alone! How hard that can be at times, to give up control....of nothing lol! It still amazes me that if I just slow down, be quiet and pay attention (all the things we tell our children to do in school) that God speaks to me in so many ways. He is all around me, guiding me, but sometimes I'm too busy figuring it out to hear Him. It is a blessing for us all that He is a patient God and understands our finite minds. Artcraft Fear and Anxiety - Blog Entry09 Aug 2006 04:42 AM I too have a strong tendency to become overanxious and fret way too much, mostly about things I have little or no control over. My dad used to tell me I worked up a lather( we had horses, if you are familiar with that saying). You have reminded me to let go and let God. I am in the middle of moving on an idea right now, trying to decide if its God's will or mine, fretting a little, and checked your blog this a.m. Right on the money, thanks for starting my day in the direction He wants me to go.
