11 Oct 2006 10:12 AM Making Your Own Spice BlendsMy pantry contains a lot of signature spice blends. I love to make my own, they taste better, I know whats in them, they are less expensive, and my friends enjoy receiving them as little gifts. Listed below are a couple of recipes for these delicious and easy blends: TACO SEASONING 1 T. flour 1 T. cornstarch 1 T. dehydrated minced onion 1 tsp. beef boullion granules or 1 crushed boullion cube 1 tsp. each, garlic salt, cumin, chili powder, paprika and salt 1/2 tsp. onion salt 1/4 tsp. each cayenne pepper and sugar Mix and store in baggie or container. Brown 1# ground beef, drain fat. Add seasoning mix and 3/4 c. water, bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer, uncovered for 10 min. stirring occasionally. CAJUN SEASONING 2 1/2 T. paprika 2 T. salt 2 T. garlic powder 1 T. each-black pepper, onion powder, cayenne pepper, dried oregano and dried thyme. Mix thoroughly and store in labeled spice container (recycled).
