Making Your Own Spice Blends

My pantry contains a lot of signature spice blends. I love to make my own, they taste better, I know whats in them, they are less expensive, and my friends enjoy receiving them as little gifts.  Listed below are a couple of recipes for these delicious and easy blends:

                           TACO SEASONING

1 T. flour

1 T. cornstarch

1 T. dehydrated minced onion

1 tsp. beef boullion granules or 1 crushed boullion cube

1 tsp. each, garlic salt, cumin, chili powder, paprika and salt

1/2 tsp. onion salt

1/4 tsp. each cayenne pepper and sugar

Mix and store in baggie or container. Brown 1# ground beef, drain fat. Add seasoning mix and 3/4 c. water, bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer, uncovered for 10 min. stirring occasionally.

                       CAJUN SEASONING

2 1/2 T. paprika

2 T. salt

2 T. garlic powder

1 T. each-black pepper, onion powder, cayenne pepper, dried oregano and dried thyme.  Mix thoroughly and store in labeled spice container (recycled).
