Dating Advice for Single Moms (from "Mars and Venus Starting Over" by John Gray, Ph.D.) - Blog Entry

I think that these comments by John Gray oversimplify the single parent life. Not everyone lives somewhere with an ample supply of potential dates. Not everyone has the ability to have their kids "taken care of" while they date. And, being in my 40's, I'm not looking for a date, I would like a relationship - and that takes more time than I have right now. Perhaps John Gray should speak of what he knows.

Life Coaching for Single Parents: An Interview with Kristi McClanahan, ACG - Blog Entry

I went to a workshop headed by a life coach. It was fine, and even helpful somewhat. But, I was very uncomfortable sharing personal information when this woman was not, is not, a therapist in any sense. Training in guiding people to the right place is ok - but I think that the tone of these things ends up seeming like therapy and life coaches are not therapists. I think this is a tenuous area and that individuals should be very careful.
