Obviously there aretimes when we are helpless to prevent death, despite medical attention and intervention etc. It just doesn't seem to be like that in the case mentioned.

Sadly, I think that is too often the story, Samual. The law often makes the victim out as the one in wrong. It's a sad comment on society and our law system.

You raise some interesting points Mary Ann. My husband certainly wasn't at home all the time since obviously he had to work, but we managed to keeep touch during the day by phone each day and not make on the spot decisions. As a result our kids knew there was no point trying to play one off agaist the other. As an adult that is one thing our daughter and son remember and admire.

As you know I am a Christian and I belive in the power of prayer. I also believe God gave us doctors for good reason and some things need medical atention. I am horrified at the attitudes of the so called christian women in this story. Depression is a medical illness and should be treated as such. Sadly depresssion and other mental ilnnesses are treated differently by many both in and outside of the church. However it does seem that at times that certain churches can often end up doing more harm than good by their attitudes towards such things. I have had friends been affected this way by well meaning but blinkered people.
