She was about 4 at the time. She wasn't happy about it. We explained why it needed to be cut so it would grow long and beautiful. It did. It's long thick and gorgeous and she's had long hair ever since. We never had any major hassles though. She always loved people combing or brushing her hair etc. She's now an adult.
