Raising Great Kids, and Having a Great Marriage - Blog Entry

19 May 2008 08:50 PM

Couldn't agree more that we need to look after our marriage partner first. Great to hear it from a guy's point of view. I've dealt with some of this in these blogs. http://christian.families.com/blog/keeping-the-happily-ever-after http://christian.families.com/blog/laziness-part-1-in-marriage My dear one and I have been married over twice as long as you and your wife. We've had lots of practice at caring for each other first and foremost

Frugal Contentment Thieves 2 - Blog Entry

It's the same issue for those who choose to stay at home and live on one income.Occasionally others make you want all the things they have but is it worth the stress, long hours and time away from kids? Not for mine. We need to keep our eyes on the big picture not the incidentals.

Choosing Flowers with the Color Wheel - Blog Entry

I laughed when I read this. Why? My garden has no white. Anything that flowers white is considered a weed and yanked out. But I'm happy with my garden of primarily blue, (I love blue flowers best of all) pink, purple, red with the occasional yellow and orange thrown in. Every garden I have ever had has been de-whited. Just my oddity.

Having Trouble Talking to Your Teen: Try the Car! - Blog Entry

My husband and I were houseparents some years back to a fmily of boys, several were teenagers and conversations always went more smoothly in the car, when we had a couple of the boys with us. I think because you're not looking at each other as you talk because you're driving so they feel freer to say things and open up as they wouldn't otherwise.

The Pilot's Wife - Anita Shreve - Blog Entry

I've read this and enjoyed it as I have several others of Anita Shreve. You and I often seem to be on a similar wavelength with movies, now books as well.

Dahlias - Blog Entry

We had some dahlias spring up in our garden just after we moved in, maroon and white.I'm a big fan of dahlias. At the moment - Autumn in Australia- we're interested to see what pops up in our garden as we have hot pink lilies, irises, jonquils all planted by the previous owner of the house. It's like a lucky dip to see what will spring up next.

Setting Healthy Boundaries for Your Children (3) - Blog Entry

Sometimes that might include the types of shows watched and saying 'No' to watching certain shows. http://christian.families.com/blog/what-are-you-teaching-your-children-through-tv

I often wonder too whether people like to watch shows like Super Nanny to make thm feel good, so they feel their kids aren't so bad. Others out there are worse. What do you think?

Who's to Blame, Me or Him? - Blog Entry

Could I gently suggest the next step is talking to him about your expectations and letting him tell you of his? At least then you'll both know what you expect of each other.

My Favorite Television Moms - Blog Entry

By far my favorite, who you didn't include, Caroline Ingalls from Little House on the Prarie. A woman committed to her family and her faith.
