How Do You Feel about Valentine's Day? - Blog Entry

14 Feb 2008 09:18 PM

We don't go overboard for events such as Valentines' day, mainly because we both dislike the ocmmercialism involved. But I was thrilled to get a card my husband made himself and read his expression of love. He's the crafty one in this couple. I bought him a card. Other years I have written him a poem. I had to be out last night but we'll celebrate tonight and we spent all of the morning together. In a sense for us every day is valentine's day (See my blog ' Keeping the happily ever after') and our wedding anniversary is the more important celebration..

Are You the Biggest Problem in Your Relationship's Difficulties? - Blog Entry

I think that's true that we have to accept each other as we are but what often happens wiwthout us even being aware of it, is that we change as we live out our marriage. The truth is marriages need to be worked at, not just assumed the happily ever after will follow. See my blog, 'keeping the happily ever after.'

Happily Ever After - Blog Entry

I left my husband standing outside his work once, waiting for me to pick him up to go home. We only have one car. I forgot I had the car that day as it was a day I didn't normally have it. I was home writing, wondering why he was late, when I got a phone call. We both laughed about my forgetfulness too. I kept telling him I didn't forget him, just forgot that I had the car.

I agree. As a piece of light fiction I enjoyed this movie but you'd hardly want to base a marraige on such flimsy knowledge of each other and though I like Meg Ryan I think whoever does her clothes in a lot of her films needs changing.

I agree an understanding of different personalities is helpful - what type of person we are and what we are looking for in a mate. I linked to this blog in my blog Happily Ever After

Rule Number 4: One Size Doesn't Fit All - Blog Entry

My husband and I have been married for more than two thirds of our lives and we never go to bed angry. But that could be because we are both people who like things out in the open and talked through and dealt with . I do go away sometimes without him but mostly only for a couple of days to writers' conferences and things like that. He takes that time to watch action type and war movies he knows I wouldn't like. Movies I Wish I Could Recommend, but I Can't - Blog Entry

I agree about 'Because I said so.' I'm a big fan of Diane Keaton but this one was a shocker. We got it out on DVD and to me it was a waste of money, though the guy in the video shop liked it and thought it very funny. That was after we'd already chosen it. Different tastes and values, I guess. 'Notting Hill' didn't appeal either but then I don't like Hugh Grant. The other two I haven't seen. Think I'll stick to movies like Enchanted (Does Love conquer all? - blog) and 27 Dresses.

I really liked the first quote. It highlights how important example is rather than words. No wonder I linked to this blog in What are you teaching your children?
