Our children never had cloth books and only had board books others bought. We wanted them to learn how to treat books, so they had paper books. They had them from babies and learned you didn't tear books. Adults now, they still have some of the favorite baby picture books and reading books.

Thanks for the comments Angela, and yes, we each still have to have outside interests. I go to choir and music practice. Mick has other interests.

Sometime it's not a conscious thing but it is treating them a little differently because they are different personalities more than a gender thing. We tried to keep rules consistent for son and daughter.

I had a couple of chatterers too but wouldn't have had them any other way. It meant I knew what was going on with them. Mine are both married now, one with family of his own. I'm thankful for all the time I had with them,and also enjoying the next stage with grandchilden.
