Bio

Dale has a passion for books and writing. She writes in various forms, from articles to poetry to fiction for children and adults. She has had many years teaching children and adults in various Sunday Schools, Kids Clubs, Bible Studies and School Scripture situations.

She is married with an adult family of son and daughter and two young grandchildren. For a time she and her husband were houseparents to a family of twelve boys ranging in age from 5-15 - an interesting and challenging experience.

Dale lives with her husband on the South Coast of New South Wales, Australia.

Dale has a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Literary Studies and Australian Studies from Deakin University in Geelong which she undertook as a mature age student when her daughter was two years old. As this university is in another state of Australia, Dale was an off campus student, and completed the work through correspondence.

Dale's most recent book for young readers is 'The Goanna Island Mystery' published in Australia by Aussie Books and distributed by Blake. She has also published 'Karaoke Kate' and 'Red Alert!' which are available in the USA as well as Australia, New Zealand and other countries in the Australia/Pacific area.

In March 2005 Ginninderra Press published 'Kaleidoscope' a collection of Dale's poems. The poems in 'Kaleidoscope' presents word pictures of people and places throughout Australia. 'Kaleidoscope' can be purchased by visiting Dale's web site at www.daleharcombe.com.

Many of these poems have been published in some of Australia's leading literary journals and newspapers as well as anthologies.

Added to poetry, Dale writes short stories, childrens and YA fiction. 'Chasing after the Wind,' her novel for 11-14 year olds was published by Scholastic in 1997. As well as in Australia, Dale has been published in Malaysia, U.K. and U.S.A. Dale has conducted writing workshops in Sydney and in country areas.

She has written several extensive bible studies. These are on Joshua, Ruth. Esther, (year 1) Matthew, (year 2) and 1 and 2 Samuel interspersed with David's Psalms at the relevant points in Davids life. (Year 3) Each of these Growing with God studies comes complete with daily questions, commentary on the passage and a companion program for pre-schoolers. For two years she was also teaching leader of an interdenominational ladies bible study using this material. Over many years Dale was a childrens leader and discussion leader with BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) and Explorers as well as the home grown Growing with God studies. This has given her a good basis in delving into God's Word and learning how to apply it to daily life.

For seven years Dale wrote Sunday school material with CEP (Christian Education Publications) and has written educational texts, articles, and a radio play. She was also a manuscript assessor for several years.

For a number of years Dale wrote and directed puppet plays for the Zoer puppet group, which presented biblical plays at shopping centres and community festivals as well as churches and Sunday schools.

When not writing or conducting workshops, Dale reviews poetry and children's and young adult books and has in the past reviewed scripts.
