"Brangelina" Article Backlash

08 Jul 2006 07:22 AM

Lisa, you know I love you, but I have to disagree with your comment. I think, through watching interviews with Angelina Jolie, and reading some articles, that she genuinely wants to give kids, who otherwise wouldn't have a chance, a good life. I have also been impressed with the comments she has made about them. How much joy they have brought to her life. How she has never felt that kind of joy and love before. I also think that her donations of 1/3 of all of her income shows her commitment to helping out people in other poverty stricken countries. I see a woman who is trying to make a difference in the world with the money she makes, and I think she can't seem to catch a break because she has such a colorful past.... many of us do.

When a Spouse Is Less Active

26 Jun 2006 04:50 PM

My husband is fully active, thank goodness, but his father was not. His mother still faithfully attended church every Sunday with her kids. Last year for Mother's Day, my husband was asked to speak in Sacrament Meeting. He thanked his mother for all of those hard years of leading the family in a religious sense on her own. It made a great impact on his life.

If your husband or wife is inactive or a non-member, here are some encouraging words.

1 Corinthians 7:13-14 "And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband:"

Then, in the March 2006 Ensign First Presidency message, by President Gordon B. Hinckley: "Support, sustain, uphold, and bless your husbands with your love and your encouragement; and the Lord will bless you. Even if they are not members of the Church, bless them with kindness and reach out to them every good way that you can. The chances are that they will become members of the Church before they reach the time the die. It may be a long time and you may have a lot to put up with, but if that happens, you will think it is all worth it."

Fast Food Facts

I have to add as well that my husband and I have been trying to watch what we eat and we were out running errands around lunch time, so instead of stopping at McDonalds for ourselves (we still did for our son) we chose Quiznos, a sandwich shop. We each ordered a regular sandwich on wheat....I get home, go on their website to check out the calories....310 for one of their small lite sandwiches, which ment we ate at least double that considering we didn't order lite and they were the next size up. I couldn't believe it. If you want to eat healty, I guess you have to eat at home. I can make myself a sandwich that will fill me up at home for under 400 calories and have it all be healthy stuff, you just never know what you are getting at a restaurant, as much as I love them.

The Debate about Recess

08 Apr 2006 08:38 PM

If you want to get your children involved, go to www.rescuingrecess.com. They have letter templates that your kids fill out and send in, preaddressed and everything. I think we can make a difference if more people will just get involved and write letters to the appropriate people. Thank you for addressing this issue. My children's recess is not yet at risk, but I worry if things keep going like they are, that their recess will be. I will not stand by and watch, and I hope others do not either. Get involved!

A Pitty's Prayer

Your pits sound just like mine! I read that poem and all of the things your pits do around the house, is exactly the way Rueben behaves. It is funny how same breed dogs have distintive behaviors.
