Give yourself a "happy boost"! Part 1

The sight of a bright bouquet, the sound of a gentle music, the scent of a frangrant breeze, the taste of a sweet treat or the touch of a loved one's hand can make anyone feel fabulous.  Why si that? Treating yourself to the sensory delights of these everyday pleasures directly affects your brain chemistry and can sctually change how you feel, so make every day of the week a sensory celebration.

Rest your eyes

Thanks to big-screen TV's and crowded e-mail in-boxes, your eyes are constantly bombarded with ever-changing images.  Setting them on a soothing sight helps your brain and bervouse system simmer down so you can realax.

Enjoy the view.  Fashion is pleasing focal point in areas where you spen a lot of time--say, in front of a computer, at the kitchen sink or in the basement where you fold laundry.  Hang and inexpensive art print on the wall, download a screen saver of spring meadows or tropical sunsets (available for free at www.desktopia.com ), or plant a garden with bright blooms, like gerbera daisies, on or right outside your windowssill.

Let the sun shine in.  Many people suffer bouts of the winter blues during the dreary season fo shorter days and longer nights.  Happily, a daily dose of natural sunlight can help keep the blues at bay.  Take down heavy drapes and open your blinds to let more light into your home.  Go for a walk outdoors in the fresh air every afternoon while the sun is still shining.  In no time at all, your outlook will be sunnier.

Get a color fix.  Color can have and instant effect on your decor and your mood!  Paint one room in your home with a color that fills your with joy.  Try a dramitic shade, like a spicy terra-cotta for your pantry or other spaces you visit briefly, or pick a soothing sea foam for your bedroom.  Color choice for your bedroom.  Color choice is personal, so look through paint chips to discover what makes you happy, calm or energized.  Buy a small can and testr the color on a patch of wall to see what it looks like before painting the entire room.
