Soothe your ears! The saying "music soothes the savage beast" isn't just a figure of speech. Listening to sedate music really can lower your blood pressure, slow your heart rate and calm your breathing; rousing tunes can have the oppsite effect. Brighten the workday. Listening to music can help keep your energy up or your pluse down during a busy day. If you have a desk job and access to the internet and you're able to slip on headphones, go to www.live365.com and stream a radio station or customize a playlist at www.pandora.com . Seek slience. If your daily enviroment is full of constant noise, like kids squawking and phone ringing, giveyour ears a break. Find a quiet place--behind a locked bedroom door or in an in empty office--close your eyes, take deep, even breaths, and let the stillness surround you ( use earplugs if necessary). Even five minutes will refresh. Sleep more soundly. You know that soft music can help you relax--but did you know it can also promote better slumber? A recent study in the hournal of Advance Nursing found that listening to a calming selection, like soft jazz, before going to bed helped research subjects sleep longer and deeper than those who went to bed without music. So turn off the TV and pop in a realaxing CD before hitting the sack. I started going to bed listening to classical music because i could not sleep and i do not wake up in the middle of the night no more i really do rest better since listening to music when i sleep.
