- Safeguard their brittle bones. Small dogs have frailer bones that larger dogs, so they can break their legs more easily. Even jumping off a bed can injure them. If you notice your dog steps at a pet store or at www.drsfostersmith.com .
- Keep their mouths clean. Many small dogs have crowded mouths since their teeth aren't much smaller than bigger dogs'. Food becomes trapped easily; if it's not removed, plaque and infections will develope. Rub qauze on your dog's teeth daily to remove plaque.
- Feed them enough. Smaller dogs tend to have low blood sugar, so they need to eat more then bigger dogs. Give them three or four small meals a day rather than one or two big ones.
