Stretch your family's food dollors

You can feed your family healthy meals without breaking the bank.  Plan your menu and shopping trip before you set foot in a grocery store.

Hit the market first. Visit a local farmers market to look for bargains on regional, seasonal produce.

Shop Smart. Make a grocery list before you go shopping.  this way you'll be less tempted to pick up things just because they catch your eye.  Avoiding impluse buying will help you stick to your budget.

Recycle Foods.  Use leftover veggies in onelets, pasta dishes, spups and casseroles.  Turn leftover roast beef or pork into sandwiches and use old bread to make bread crumbs, French toast and grilled sandwiches.

Buy cheap bread.  Go to "day-old" or outlet stores to find great bargins on whold-grain bane-brand breads.

Check the unit pricing.  Look for the until price of packaged foods, which is on shelves below the products.  That price tells you how much the food costs per ounce so you can see which brand or size is the best bargain.

Clip coupons.  Browse through newspapers and magazines to find coupons for the foods you buy regularly.  Just don't be tempted by too many luxury "bargains."v
