Blood Spotting at 38 weeks?

I am 38 weeks pregnant and last night i noticed some blood when i wiped. There was none when i wiped a second time. later on that night it was there again as through out the next day on and off... Could this be labor starting or something. this is my first pregnancy? i also was at the doctors wed, and was checked and i was not dilated at all, so im a lil worried? please help
