My son has been quite sick since saturday, so I have stayed at home with him to make sure he is getting the best care possible. Although I have a great sitter, as his mother I feel like it's my responsibility to be there for him. Evidently he enjoyed his stay at grandpa's because as soon as I got there to pick him up he gave me a big hug and ran off to get the wooden truck that he and my dad had built together. As he sat there descibing all of it's features and beaming proudly at it, I found myself doing the same to him. I've been under a lot of stress lately and the other day my son was driving me so crazy that I sent him away to my dad's house for a couple of days. I feel terrible about it. As soon as I made the distress call to my dad to plead my case and beg him to take my child away, I felt this overwhelming sense of failure as a parent.
