Here are three different money saving hobbies that you might want to consider taking up. They all involve minimal expense or no expense to get started, but they will do a lot to either cut expenses or add to your income.

Baking

Baking is a great hobby that doesn’t require a lot of initial skill. You can easily bake your own bread with a bread maker found at a garage sale, a thrift store or handed down by a friend. Even if you purchase on new, you will get your costs back very quickly. Or, skip the bread maker and make your loaves by hand. Making your own muffins, short breads, bagels, cakes, pies, cookies and more will definitely cut your food bill in those areas.

Sewing

Learning how to mend your own clothing will save you the expense of saving a seamstress do it or the cost of purchasing something to replace a torn item. You can sew by hand or invest in an inexpensive sewing machine. Get good at it, and soon you can make your own clothes, kid’s clothes, linens and more. It may even lead to a home business.

Ebay

Learning how to sell thing using online auctions has helped some families generate income, and they say it is lots of fun. Whether you want to just sell off some of your outgrown children’s clothes and use the money to buy the next size or hunt down bargains that you resell for a profit, selling online can be a frugal hobby to have. Investment is minimal if you start your inventory with what you already have in your home.
