5 Foods to Promote Weight Loss

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Dark Chocolate

Now that is the best news ever! Dark chocolate contains healthy fat and slows down your digestion helping you feel full longer. If you are craving a sweet then grab an ounce of dark chocolate to curb your cravings. Drizzle your serving over strawberries, oatmeal, or granola for a special treat. I may not always succeed in getting the right amount of water a day but I will be certain to get my fair share of dark chocolate.

Eggs

Believe it or not, but eggs are not the devil’s spawn. We have heard for so long that eggs as unhealthy and bad for a diet. That is simply not true. Having too many eggs or frying them in a pound of butter is bad for you but a proper serving is very healthy. The protein makes them an essential of a healthy diet and helps curb cravings. Studies have also shown that women eating eggs for breakfast lost more weight than women who ate bagels. You won’t find bagels on this list.

Green Tea

You saw that coming, didn’t you? Everywhere you look there are claims that green tea aids in weight loss. Well, the claims are true. Green tea is hydrating and full of antioxidants that aid in calorie burn. It is recommend that you drink five cups a day to see the benefits. I highly recommend Yogi’s Blueberry Slim Green Tea. I wish the recommendation came from tremendous weight loss but actually it is based on taste. I just started drinking it on a regular basis so we will see.

Pears

Now, that you didn’t see coming, did you? The pear is sadly underrepresented as a healthy option for snacking or weight loss. The fiber count is what tipped the scales to put it on the list. Well, that and because I hardly hear anything about pears so I felt it deserved it’s fair share of exposure. So grab a pear, skin and all, for 15% of your daily fiber.

Oranges

Made famous for its ability to fight colds and flu due to high amounts of vitamin C, this little snack is only 60 calories and packs in the fiber. The fiber keeps you full and the low calories makes it a free food according to Weight Watchers. Give it up for the orange!
