5 More Terrific Tips to Save Money Scrapbooking

Scrapbooking is an expensive hobby and saving money is one of the keys to keeping it fun. Here are a few more tips to save money on those scrapbooking supplies and make your love of scrapbooking a bit budget friendly as well.

1. Organize It

Spend time organizing your supplies to make it easier to find things. This can save money by not requiring you to purchase something a second time when you cannot find it. Don’t spend a lot on storage either. You can obtain a nice storage area and scrapbook space for a fraction of the cost of what some pay. See my article titled Build a Basic Scrapbook Space on a Budget.

2. Make Mine Rubber
Instead of purchasing tons of stickers and other things that you might not use, try investing in a couple of stamps with basic images. These can be used over and over again on your layouts. Change the ink pad color you use and you can coordinate with almost any theme.

3. Split It Up
Although some find purchasing glue sticks in bulk a great way to save money, I have a better suggestion. Use photo splits. They are fairly inexpensive really (I’ve even seen them at the dollar stores) and you can cut them in half, allowing a box to go a lot further than you thought! Don’t use 4 full squares on each corner, cut them in half and you’ve only used 2.

4. Tie It All Together
Run, don’t walk – to Wal-mart or any discount chain that has craft supplies. Purchase your ribbon and fibers there. You can purchase in bulk and get a lot! Also if you use embroidery floss it goes a long way and it’s very cheap. Purchase in colors such as gold, silver and some metallic colors. These go with almost any layout and can be used over and over again.

5. Digital Era
Use your computer to help you scrap. Print titles, journal boxes and even clip art and other items for your page. These are great ways to embellish your pages without all the expense. Your clip art can be just as nice as stickers and it doesn’t cost as much. Use a circle or square punch to cut out creative titles and then mount on your scrap paper to complete a layout!

I love scrapbooking affordably. It’s important to not break the bank while creating your layouts. Especially because I take some many pictures and want them in my albums.
I hope these great money savers help you out! If you have any other tips, let me know!
