5 Romantic Ideas for a Frugal Valentine’s Day

Romantic Ideas For Valentines DayWith Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I thought it would be a nice touch to add some romantic ideas for that special day. These are mostly ways to show your partner that you love them. However, keeping with my constant frugality, I have only included ten extremely inexpensive or cheap ideas.

Idea #1

Fill the car trunk with helium filled with balloons. Tape a piece of poster board to the inside of the trunk lid that says “I love you” in huge letters. When you are at a park or trail to walk, hand your partner the keys and have them open the trunk to get the _______ (water bottles, backpacks, to put her purse IN) out of the trunk. When they open the trunk, imagine the surprise!

Idea #2

Get out your pen and a piece of paper and write your partner a love song or poem. Use your best handwriting or use your computer and printer to print it out. You can purchase a cheap frame from the dollar store and have it framed. It makes a romantic gift. You could call your song “Jennifer’s Song” or the poem “Ode To Matthew”.

Idea #3

If your partner and yourself are avid reader’s, a trip to a large chain shop is in order. Purchase a book that you both wish to read, or find a romantic self help book. Buy the book and then sit in the coffee house area and read it together while sipping a latte.

Idea #4

Here’s a cute idea. Purchase some fortune cookies and without breaking the cookie, use tweezers to remove the original fortunes. Create your own fortunes on slips of paper, cut them out and carefully insert them back into the cookies. Place the cookies into a cheap take out box which you can find at the dollar store and other discount chains and craft stores in the party supply aisle. Makes a cute gift. You can do the same thing with Hershey’s Chocolate Kisses. Take the little Hershey’s tag off and add your own.

Idea #5

Purchase a tree from a local nursery. Plant it together in your yard and each year photograph yourselves next to (at first) or underneath (later) the tree. You can do the same thing with a garden. Plant flowers or vegetables and fruits or whatever. Gardening is a great way to spend time together and you will have something beautiful to enjoy for years to come.
