A 24-inch iMac In Stores Now

Up until a little over a year ago I have always had a 19” television. When I was younger I know it seemed huge, but as I got older and larger it got older and seemingly smaller. I traded it in last year for a 36” version a friend passed along and can honestly say now that I’ve had a large television I don’t know how I would go back to having a smaller screen, or how I lived with such a small screen for so many years.

Now take that same idea, and apply it to your computer.

Apple recently released a version of their iMac computer with a 24 inch screen. I get press releases from Apple sent to my inbox and when I read it the first time I thought it surely was a typo. “24 inches? That is bigger than my television used to be, what could someone possibly do with a 24 inch computer?”

For those of you not familiar with the iMac line, Apples iMacs are self container computers that are only a monitor and the stand it sits on. Unlike most desktop computers you don’t have a bulky unsightly tower to deal with, which makes them an obvious choice to put somewhere you want a computer but still want to look trendy.

The new iMac has a Intel Core Duo processor, making it super fast and includes a built in web cam to make video chatting online a breeze. The CD/DVD drive is in the side of the monitor as are the USB ports, making it a pretty compact computer if you don’t account for the 24 inches of monitor.

The 24 inch monitor size is perfect for people who want to be able to work with photos, edit and watch videos, or write their own music all things Macs are specifically designed for. The 24 inch version runs around $2000, a smaller 17” iMac is only $999, both are available from the apple store.
