Do you remember going to be fitted for shoes as a child? I can remember always hating the process. There was always those huge medal size things, and some weird, and occasionally scary shoe clerk who would have to measure you with them to determine what your shoe size is. Obviously, I don’t have fond memories of this process.
I’m currently working on developing a new fitness plan to lose weight. I didn’t have a good pair of running shoes, so I went to one of my local sports supply stores a few days ago to get a pair of running shoes. At the store, they had a computer that would determine your shoe size for you. I had to try this one out.
Essentially, the computer is connected to a footpad. You stand on the foot pad, the walk across it a few times. After doing so, the computer takes information about how you walked on the pad to determine not only your shoe size, but also the right type of athletic shoe for your foot. Pretty Nifty.
Technology has dramatically changed everything we d it seems like. I find myself not watching television shows when they air now, and sitting down and watching them on my laptop later on once their uploaded. Computers have made everything we do in life a little different. From how we order food, shop for Christmas presents, or now call our family.
An electronic shoe fitter opens the door to a variety of electronic fitting devices. Can you imagine being fitted for your next pair of jeans by standing on an electronic pad? Would they measure for jeans that fit, or the jeans that we always buy a size too small and manage to squeeze ourselves into?
What types of computer based devices like the shoe fitter would you like to start seeing in stores?
