A Great Website for Planning for Emergencies

I just found a great website that offers information on being prepared for an emergency. The site is www.ready.gov. This is a site which contains information provided by the United States government to help you and your family prepare for different types of emergencies.

The site has a section for business owners. It has a section that talks about how you can plan for an emergency, so that your business will not close down after a disaster. It has a section on how to form evacuation plans for your employees. It also lists ways to prepare your employees to react to emergency situations. The last section talks about the importance of purchasing insurance and other ways to protect your business.

“READY America” is the section designed for families. The first section talks about what you will need to do to prepare an emergency kit for your family. The second section talks about planning for your family. This includes what to do if your family is separated during an emergency. It also talks about how to handle emergencies in different situations. The last section talks about the different types of emergencies from biological threats to nuclear threats to natural disasters.

The final section of the website is designed for kids. It has interactive games, and ways for the children to put together kits for their families. It provides information about different types of natural disasters and what to do on a child appropriate level. After going over the site kids can take a quiz and then receive a graduation certificate. It is a fun interactive way to help your children prepare for an emergency.

This is a good site, and I recommend taking the time to see the information that is offered. If you have further questions you can call the site’s hotline number which is 1-800-BE-READY.
