A Vampire Tragedy

I have several friends that have gotten all wrapped up in the “Twilight” series of books and movies. Team Edward and Team Jacob comments are thrown around on Facebook and many lament the end of the series with the upcoming The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, which comes out on November 16th.

Now it seems as if the saga may not be the only thing ending.

For what seems like years, the stars of the movie, Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson, have denied being in a relationship, despite the love between their on screen personas. Well, let me put that another way – they may not have denied it, but they never confirmed it. Until recently, that is.

More and more the two began displaying public affection, including most recently at San Diego’s famous Comic-Con where they appeared to promote the final movie. On July 20th, the pair was spotted cozying up at the Hotel Café in Los Angeles.

Then, vampire tragedy struck.

If fans were hoping the big screen turned real life romance would continue, they may be disappointed. On July 24th, Stewart issued a public apology for “hooking up” with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. Oh, and Sanders is married and has two small children.

Some say the affair was never consummated and only amounted to the two spending alone time together and kissing, while other say the affair lasted for months. Either way, it seems the damage has been done.

On July 25th, Stewart issued a public apology, saying, “I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry.”

Sanders, 41, also released a statement, “I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family. My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together.”

Reports are that Pattinson has moved out of the house he shared with Stewart in Los Angeles and the two aren’t even speaking at this point.
