A Yearly Layout about YOU!!

After my daughter was born, I realized quickly that my scrapbooking was all about her. All the time. When you become a mother, sometimes it feels like you lose yourself, and I didn’t want that to happen in my scrapbooking too. Do you ever Scrapbook Yourself?
In the article, Scrapbooking You, there are some great ideas about how you can scrapbook photos of yourself so that you don’t get lost in those albums.

What if every year, you did a specific layout that was just about you?? I did this after my daughter was born, and it really made me think about my life in that moment and helped me preserve it so I wouldn’t forget. At the same time, I had recently chopped off 10 inches of my hair. I was proud of that fact because I am not a big risk taker. I had a photo of my new haircut, and decided to get busy on scrapping myself.

First, I had recently heard a quote that I loved that was my mantra at the time. It stated, “You need to be where you can be the person you need to be!” I made sure to include that photo on my layout. I also included some journaling for the photo. It stated, “I wanted to do this page of myself for me. Recently after years of long hair, I chopped mine off-10 inches!! I thought, I’m turning 30 and want to be confident in who I am, unafraid of what others think, and not scared to try new things. I believe life is about evolving”

Last, I wanted to include a bunch of words that I thought represented me at the time. I wrote each word or phrase down on a separate little block. I scattered these words all over the page. These are the words that I included:

*Almost 30

*Reader

*Mother and Wife

*People Watcher

*Believer

*Loyal

*Love to Scrap

*Gullible

*Spanish Speaker

*Open

*Sarcastic

*Affectionate

It is interesting to look back at how I viewed myself at the time. What a nice thing to have of each year of our lives? Every year we are changing, and our view of ourselves change. While we may not change in the photos from year to year as much as our kids do, our thoughts, feelings, and views on life change with each new experience. Why not document ourselves, so that we do not get lost in our scrapbooking??
